Het Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam gaat eind 2012 verbouwen om de conditie van het gebouw en de veiligheid van bezoekers en kunst ook op de langere termijn te kunnen blijven garanderen. Dit maakte Axel Rüger, directeur van het museum vandaag bekend. De topstukken van Van Gogh, waaronder zo'n 75 schilderijen en een aantal werken op papier, blijven tijdens de verbouwing zichtbaar: ze worden gepresenteerd in de Herenvleugel van de Hermitage Amsterdam.

"Heerlijk gegeten op oudejaarsavond met een groep van 6. Menu was ook voor de 2 vegetariërs spannend, smaakvol en het dessert erg goed gekozen voor de gelegenheid. Bediening zorgvuldig en gastvrij. Het was nog rustig toen we aan tafel gingen waardoor de de kok tijd kon nemen om ons de kaart uitgebreid uit te leggen. Even reagerend op de vorige mening m.b.t. de hoeveelheid eten per gang. Ook ik dacht dat het wellicht wel iets meer kon zijn, maar na 3 gangen, een drankje en koffie toe waren we meer dan voldaan. We zijn gekomen om te beleven, proeven en te genieten. Dat is zeer goed gelukt. Een snelle hap zonder poespas halen we wel ergens anders. We komen zeker nog eens terug. Dank voor de gezellige avond."

the Art Parade has created 25 unique homes, all by different artists with the aim of Dutch art, to bring attention to a wide audience. The houses are exhibited in many different hotels.

Albus is has an honor to have an art parade house in the hotel.
This project is also linked to charity.

The main objective is to collect donations for charities like us WarChild. If you would like, you can donate through our reception. After you have donated €1,- You will receive form which you can fill in your name and in the letterbox of the house to stop. All letters will go in the draw of the houses.

Most likely this action will continue until the end of the year.

I spent several hours over a 2 week period looking at hotels before choosing the Albus. It was a combination of the location, the claims of a comfortable bed and the in room expresso machine that won me over.
It was the staff and the cozyness of the place that I fell in love with once I arrived. The lobby and coctail bar are a combined room and lead into the small dining area that is the Senses restaurant. The restaurant has its own intrance and is good enought to have a customer base that is not made up of hotel guests. It is pricey and the resident chef changes the multi-course special nightly. The one dinner we ate there was awesome.
The bed was as advertised and we slept well every night. The curtains are very dark making it easy to sleep late in the morning.(no alarm clock in the room). The bathroom has a switchable outlet for 110V and 220V devices. The shower head is huge and takes some getting used to. There is also a smaller sprayer attached to the tub spout and a retractable wire for hanging cloths. (came in handy the one night we got rained on). The expresso machine was stocked to make 4 cups each day.
The staff is what really makes this hotel. From the time we arrived till we walked out the door to leave I felt welcome. All request were met with polite enthusiasm and all of them were fulfilled.
Some side notes. there is a small grocery store just south of the hotel and an electronics store just north on the same street. The train station is a 25 min walk from the hotel(if you dont make any wrong turns) We walked from the train station to the hotel when we arrived and took the shuttle on the return trip to the airport.
If you like to walk this is the perfect Hotel to see Amsterdam from!

Senses is de culinaire spot in het centrum van Amsterdam waar al je zintuigen worden geprikkeld. Om in de juiste sfeer te komen verwelkomen wij onze gasten in ons intieme, moderne en eigenwijze restaurant. Senses heeft een half open keuken, waardoor u als gast als het ware in onze ruime woonkeuken zit.

Naast smaak en geur wil het oog ook wat, onze chef doet elke dag met zijn team zijn uiterste best om van alle gerechten kleine kunstwerken te maken. En wij bereiden dit met dagverse, seizoensgebonden en lokale ingrediënten.

Senses voert een speelse a la carte kaart met een duidelijke signatuur van de chefkok Malik Shawaiz. Hij heeft een selectie gemaakt van gerechten die tot zijn verbeelding spreken.

Naast de a la cartekaart heeft de chefkok het "Senses menu", het menu zorgt ervoor dat alle zintuigen worden geprikkeld. Denk hierbij aan gerechten die uw smaakpapillen verrassen en tafelbereidingen waarbij je van dichtbij kunt zien, horen en voelen met welke passie de gerechten voor u worden bereidt.

Na een zeer succesvolle start met het nieuwe 4 sterren design product is er veel meer werk afgekomen op de medewerkers van de Sales afdeling. Ter versterking zoeken wij een ervaren Corporate Sales Manager. Samen met de huidige Sales Manager Niki Groothuis is jullie primaire taak om corporate accounts te contracteren. Eight years later, the Albus is to his liking, almost. The renovation added a star to the hotel and now it has four****.

To reconstruct a hotel in times of crisis, is a recommendation Taco van der Meer gives to any hotelier. ''I could properly negotiate with contractors and suppliers. For the same money I now have realized a higher level.''

Van der Meer points to the lobby, dominated by a wine wall. Behind this wall the bar and restaurant are located, which according to Van der Meer could use some more local run.

An investment of 1.4 million euros is always a risk for a medium-sized hotel. ''I can surely feel the impact of the crisis. But the Albus is a hotel where the occupancy has always been at a high level. Only recently he was just below the ninety percent.'' For the record: the average occupancy rate in Amsterdam last year was 67.5 percent.

Van der Meer has thoroughly addressed the renovation. He had three design agencies pitching against each other. He had picked the bedsides himself. Was involved in the development of interactive multimedia TVs in the rooms. And stayed at thirty or forty hotels to gain inspiration. ''What I did notice, was that of twenty of the hotel were all quite similar. I wanted something new.''

according to van der Meer, most three and four star hotels of Amsterdam differ little from each other. Amsterdam is developing as an innovative, creative city. Especially as a smaller hotel you have to fit in.''

He mentions neighbor Banks Mansion, Hotel V, the College Hotel, The Dylan and Toren Hotel as examples of small hotels who make a difference. ''In the last ten years the gray palette has slowly gained color. But within the 322 hotels it is too little.''

Quality listening closely. Van der Meer postponed the reopening of his hotel from May to September, because the ordered design chairs for the rooms weren't delivered on time. ''I will not open my hotel with plastic chairs in the rooms.''(HERMAN STIL) 16-09-10 16:14

ALBUS HOTEL IN AMSTERDAM VOOROP IN VERHOGING ´GUEST EXPERIENCE´

Het Albus Hotel in Amsterdam gaat zijn gasten meer bieden dan alleen betaal-tv en heeft voor hen het Sensiq communicatieportaal in gebruik genomen, waarbij de tv wordt gebruikt als middel om de communicatie met de gast te verbeteren. Het Albus Hotel loopt hierin voorop!

Het portaal voorziet de gasten van het hotel van een real time informatie-kanaal over de plaatselijke omgeving die met RSS feeds constant worden gevoed met de laatste gegevens op gebied van winkelen, cultuur en ontspanning. Het kan tevens worden gebruikt om de gasten te informeren over de diensten en speciale aanbiedingen die in  het restaurant, bar en lounge voorhanden zijn. Als onderdeel van het project heeft het hotel ook alle 74 kamers voorzien van nieuwe 32inch-lcdflatscreens van Philips. Dit ´state-of-the-art systeem´ vergroot het luxegevoel dat het hotel biedt en verhoogt de ´guest experience´ in het algemeen.

Taco van der Meer, General Manager van het Albus Hotel, licht toe: "We zien de laatste jaren de inkomsten uit de traditionele betaal-tv gestaag teruglopen.  Daarom zochten wij naar alternatieven. Dit hebben wij gevonden in Sensiq van Quadriga. Dit systeem stelt ons niet alleen in staat om een breed scala aan ontspanningsmogelijkheden te bieden; we kunnen het tevens inzetten als een echt portaal om te communiceren met toeristisch en zakelijke gasten om hen extra informatie te verschaffen om hun verblijf in Amsterdam zo aangenaam mogelijk te maken. Met Sensiq kunnen we tevens onze hotelservices en -faciliteiten  en speciale aanbiedingen direct op de kamer van onze gasten promoten, hetgeen ons belangrijke nieuwe inkomstenbronnen kan bieden", aldus Taco van der Meer.

Marc Budie, directeur technologie van Quadriga, voegt eraan toe: "Het betaal-tv-model is in beweging. Wij hebben Sensiq voor hoteliers ontwikkeld en bieden hun de mogelijkheid om iets extra's te bieden en om hun gasten van belangrijke informatie te voorzien. Door een ´in-room experience´ op maat, die tegemoet komt aan de behoeften van zijn gasten, loopt Albus Hotel voorop in het gebruik van technologie die de dienstverlening verbetert en de gasttevredenheid en gastenbinding optimaliseert."

THE ALBUS in AMSTERDAM ENHANCES GUEST EXPERIENCE THROUGH SENSIQ COMMUNICATIONS PORTAL 

The Albus, a four star Hotel in Amsterdam has taken the step to move beyond offering just pay TV to its guests by installing Quadriga's guest communications portal Sensiq, and using the TV as a vehicle to improve guest communications and provide potential new revenue streams.

The portal will provide the hotel with a communications channel to push information about the local area - including shopping, culture and entertainment - as well as inform guests about services and special promotions within the hotel across its leisure and dining facilities. As part of this new initiative, the hotel has also updated all 74 rooms with new Philips 32-inch flat screen LCDs, to provide a state of the art system to add to the luxurious feel of the hotel and enhance the overall guest experience.

Taco van der Meer, director of The Albus, comments: "We needed a solution which provided a return on investment and additional revenue generation opportunities. Sensiq offers this capability and much more. The system still allows us to offer a great range of entertainment content, but it also enables us to use it as a true portal to communicate with leisure and business guests, providing additional information to help them make the most of their stay in Amsterdam."

THE ALBUS HOTEL GETS ITS FOURTH STAR

Amsterdam, May 3d, 2010

The Albus Hotel, at de Vijzelstraat in the very heart of Amsterdam, has been selected by the 'Nederlandse Hotel Classificatie' (Dutch Hotel Classification) as a 4 star Hotel. Before, the hotel had 3 stars.

To candidate for the 4 star rating, a hotel has to meet all 4 star regulations and requirements. Apart from that, a minimum of 73 points has to be earned regarding 4 star requirements.  The Albus Hotel got even 92 of these; way over par!!

Becoming a 4 star hotel was celebrated within the hotel organization, with bubbles and speeches. The plate with the indication of a 4 star hotel was proudly placed at the entrance of the hotel.

General Manager Taco van der Meer of the Albus Hotel showed great pride in obtaining the fourth star.

"This means a lot to us. We all worked hard to achieve this. For instance, we now offer room service from 07.00-23.00 hours and every room is equipped with a laptop safe and charger. The official acknowledgement to be a 4 star hotel confirms our goal to offer top service. Add to that, the fact that our staff are more than 100% committed to please the guest, and you will find that our underline ´ the pearl of Amsterdam' is very valid.  Soon our hotel will be officially re-opened after total refurbishment.  The many reservations we receive prove that there are high expectations", says Van der Meer.

EXTRA STER ALBUS HOTEL

The Albus Hotel, aan de Vijzelstraat in Amsterdam, heeft de 4-sterren status gekregen. De extra ster is toegekend door de Nederlandse Hotel Classificatie, onderdeel van het Bedrijfschap Horeca en Catering, nadat is vastgesteld dat het hotel aan alle gewenste normen voldoet.

Om in aanmerking te komen voor een 4-sterren status, moet een hotel voldoen aan alle 4-sterren basisnormen. Daarnaast moeten nog minimaal 73 punten worden behaald met zogenaamde 4-sterren normen naar keuze. The Albus Hotel heeft er maar liefst 92 gehaald; ver boven de norm dus!

De toekenning van de vierde ster is intern gevierd met champagne en de aanduiding met de 4-sterren classificatie pronkt inmiddels aan de buitenmuur van the Albus Hotel.

Algemeen Directeur Taco van der Meer van the Albus Hotel toonde zich trots op de 4^e ster:

"De kwalificatie van 4-sterren hotel betekent veel voor ons. Wij hebben hier heel erg hard aan gewerkt. Zo bieden wij nu bijvoorbeeld roomservice van 07.00-23.00 uur en is elke kamer voorzien van een laptop safe met oplaadsysteem. De toekenning bevestigt dat wij optimale service leveren. Voeg daarbij het feit dat onze medewerkers voor meer dan 100% gedreven zijn om het de gast naar de zin te maken en ons predicaat 'parel van de hoofdstad' wordt geheel waargemaakt. Binnenkort volgt de officiële heropening van ons hotel, na een ingrijpende renovatie. De boekingen lopen hier al op vooruit!", aldus Van der Meer.

Beside this, all 68 of 74 rooms have been finished. From now on there will not be any form of nuisance. Do not hesitate and visit us to taste the new atmosphere! 

"De heropening van het gerenoveerde The Albus Grand Hotel in Amsterdam is uitgesteld. Reden is het niet tijdig kunnen leveren van de stoelen.

Het viersterrenhotel aan de Vijzelstraat in Amsterdam wacht op nieuwe designstoelen. Die moeten uit het buitenland komen. Door het tijdig ontbreken van de stoelen is de feestelijke heropening van het hotel uitgesteld.

Volgens de laatste berichten worden de 168 nieuwe stoelen eind mei geleverd. 'Het is even een moeilijke stoelgang voor ons', grapt eigenaar Taco van der Meer van de Albus Grand over de ontstane situatie.

Van der Meer: 'Maar uiteindelijk zullen de prachtige zetels onze nieuwe kamers gaan sieren. Het hotel is ingrijpend verbouwd en opnieuw ingericht met designmeubelen. Het is omgetoverd tot een eigentijds, onderscheidend hotel met een geheel eigen karakter op dezelfde A-locatie waar het al jaren staat'."

Tevens zijn 68 van de in totaal 74 kamers gerenoveerd en opgeleverd!

Er is nu geen sprake meer van enige overlast. Komt u binnenkort langs voor een rondleiding?

Beside the rooms, the reception desk will be replaced and upgraded with designer furniture, a lounge-bar and a business corner. The metamorphose of the ground floor will be realized within 2 weeks.

Assorti of Oysters and mussels: 3 Creuses oysters, differently prepared; raw with lemon, the other one is deep fried in sesame oil and the third is au gratin with Champagne sabayon. The mussels are prepared in the traditional Dutch way, cooked in broth of wine, combined with herbs and vegetables.

Mini Dover Sole: 2 in butter sauteed mini Dover soles with lemon juice and served with vegetables and potatoes.

Assorti van oesters en mosselen: 3 Zeeuwse Creuses oesters met 3 verschillende bereidingen; verse geopend geserveerd emt citroen, de ander in bierbeslag gedompeld en gefrituurd en de derde gegratineerd met diverse kruiden en Champagne sabayon. De mosselen, ook uit Zeeuwse wateren zijn volgens traditioneel recept voor u klaargemaakt.

Slibtongetjes: 2 in roomboter gebakken slibtongetjes, afgeblust met citroensap en geserveerd met verse groenten en aardappelen.

The number of conferences in the Dutch capital rose by 9 percent, according to the annual rankings published by the international Congress & Convention Association (ICCA).

With 89 international congresses, Amsterdam leaves cities like Stockholm, Seoul and Lisbon behind. The Amsterdam Tourism & Convention Board (ATCB) is particularly pleased with this growth.

For a number of years, the ATCB has been organising a range of special activities to promote Amsterdam as an international congress city, partly thanks to the investment of the Department of Economic Affairs of Amsterdam City Council. These efforts have clearly paid off.

Met 89 internationale congressen laat Amsterdam steden als Stockholm, Seoel en Lissabon achter zich. Voorwaarden voor opname in de ICCA-ranglijst zijn dat het congres minstens 50 deelnemers telt, georganiseerd wordt op regelmatige basis en rouleert tussen minimaal 3 landen.

Het ATCB is vooral erg blij met deze groei. Zij organiseren al enkel jaren speciale activiteiten om Amsterdam te promoten als internationale congresstad. Dit is gelukt mede dankzij de investering de het Departement van Economische Zaken van de stad Amsterdam.

Deze speciale pagina, voorzien van een plattegrond via Google Maps, laat gasten in een oogopslag zien wat er in de omgeving van het hotel te beleven is. Door de integratie van een 'quick reservation panel' is ook het boeken van een kamer vereenvoudigd.
